Anna wanted a dress that was floaty and comfortable.  She had tried on a few dresses and liked many features in different dresses.  She liked the strapless fitted bodice with the curved dropped waistline which fastened at the back with corset style lacing. Anna liked the bodice detail which had a small accent of lace over one side with ruched layers of chiffon on the front and back.  Anna wanted a floaty look that was not too big and fluffy, so she decided on a long circular skirt with a wide train, creating the romantic soft and simple silhouette she was after.

Corsets designed as outerwear teamed with skirts, and dresses incorporating laced bodices simulating corsets, were periodically fashionable for evening wear from the late 1980’s and into the next decade.  Vivienne Westwood had introduced corsets as outerwear in her spring/summer 1985 fashion collection.  The style filtered through into bridal wear in the 1990’s.  Vivienne Westwood launched her made-to-measure bridal collection in 1996 and she has made a speciality of bridal dresses featuring bodices inspired by corsetry.

Today many dresses feature corset style bodices and they are very popular with brides and bridesmaids as they provide flexibility in sizing and unrestricted movement.

Thank you so much for making my amazing dress.  The finished dress was exactly what I wanted.  It was wonderful to have a dress made to fit me and to be involved with the design.  The dress is so beautiful, I will treasure it forever.  Anna
